Bible.is, like many other Android bible apps allow you to read the scriptures from multiple versions and languages, but this app shines in the multimedia experience that it presents to its users.

This Bible App lets you read, listen to, and see stories and content from the Bible in beautifully dramatized audio and thoughtfully prepared video.

You will need to have data service to access the audio bible feature or to view the videos. However you can download the audio for offline reading.

This free Android Bible app was included in our list of top-rated Android bible apps. The app is great for having the bible read back to you while you read along, or you can just turn off the screen and have the app read to you alone. The audio controls are located at the bottom of the text so you can easily pause or play media or jump to the next or previous chapter.

Audio Bible and Videos

It appears that audio is available for all chapters, but video is only available for a few topics – if video is available for a particular chapter you will see a little TV like icon in the bottom right corner.

There are videos for topics such as: “The Beginning”, “The Childhood of Jesus”, “The Baptism of Jesus by John” and the “Parable of the Good Samaritan” – in total there are 61 video segments that were taken from The JESUS Film Project.

Translations & Languages

The bible supports all the major languages and many you didn’t even know existed. The app has content for the ESV, NRS and KJV translations, however the NRS doesn’t have full content of text and audio from the New and Old testaments.
Other Features
Bible.is offers you more than just a way to read, listen and watch bible related media, but it also has reading programs to help you get the most out of exploring the bible. Some of the reading plans are: Bible in a Year, Proverb a Day, and New Testament in 40 Days.

If you feel so impress by the content you read, listened to or watched, you can share Bible verses with others via Facebook, Twitter, SMS and Email. In any case you can bookmark, highlight and add notes to whatever you are studying or find interesting.

Conclusion

If you enjoy laying back and having the bible read to you this app is ideal. However, you should be careful if you have a capped data plan from your wireless service provider, especially if you are going to watch the videos or download multiple audio files – we recommend that you do so over Wi-Fi.
